Poland – Pomorskie Voivodeship
Pomeranian Hydrogen Valley Launch Workshop
The Pomorskie Voivodeship coordinated the launch of the Pomeranian Hydrogen Valley by engaging port, offshore wind, industrial and academic stakeholders, combined with a first regional workshop to validate analysis results.
The following steps were taken to fulfill the task:
-
Stakeholder identification & engagement: The Voivodeship worked with the Pomeranian Hydrogen Cluster to involve Gdańsk and Gdynia ports, offshore wind developers, LOTOS Group (refining), Gdańsk University of Technology, and municipal fleet operators.
-
Regional framework analysis: A baseline was prepared covering hydrogen production potential from offshore wind, import/export opportunities through ports, demand forecasts in shipping and heavy mobility, and storage/distribution gaps.
-
Kick-off workshop: The Valley’s official launch event doubled as a kick-off workshop with 150+ stakeholders, structured around panel presentations and breakout sessions (mobility, industry, ports). This created a pipeline of project ideas (electrolysers near ports, bunkering pilots, hydrogen buses).
-
Best practice value: Provides a governance model for mobilising a diverse port-industrial region through a regional authority and cluster, with analysis directly feeding into collective project prioritisation.
